How Cosmetic Dentistry Can Bring Out Your Smile
Dr. David Bell:
I can think of an elderly woman who had her 50 wedding anniversary picture taken and she didn’t smile. When she got that picture back, she was heartbroken. She came, she said, ‘I don’t want my 51st anniversary to be that I’m not smiling.’ They’ll tell us why. They don’t know it until they see it with their own eyes. We’re not there to convince them at all. If somebody else, a grandchild might say, ‘Grandma, your teeth are yellow,’ or a husband says, ‘You know, honey, you’re starting to look different,’ that somebody else will usually do that, but many people would just look in that mirror and they just feel like, ‘You know what, it may be time for something to do,’ and they think it could be a great invasive procedure, but it does not have to be. It depends on what degree of cosmetics that you want. It can be done very simply with some bleaching or whitening, or a full-mouth reconstruction, or even do it in segments. It doesn’t make any difference as long as they know that the end result is going to be something they like to look in the mirror every morning and smile. One of their great treasures.
